When I first came in I wondered if I was in the right place. Sleepy Jones apparel is on racks at the entrance. This designer is the husband duo of Frances Valentine so his merchandise is available at reduced pricing as well.
I checked the sample shoes first. Unfortunately only size 7 and 9 are available in sample. I really wanted to take home these gorgeous green glass bead embellished sandals (They retail at $1400! Available at the sale for $225), but I'm no Cinderella so they didn't fit. I also wanted a pair of white fringe and pearl embellished sandals but they too were a sample 7.
At first, I was the only one shopping at Frances Valentine. I felt like I was shopping at a upscale shoe boutique with the service provided. One staff member became my personal assistant. She followed me around and whenever I wanted a pair of shoes she immediately put the box to the side where there were chairs to try it on. When I was ready to try on, she opened the box, took out the papers, and helped me put it on! If I needed to resize she ran to tell her colleague to check the back stock.
I found a stock pair of heels that I liked and I told the saleswoman I was going to wear it to an upcoming wedding. When she heard that she asked me if I need a bag. I told her I'd prefer a clutch. She showed me some pouches and cross bodies but they were too "grandmotherly" for me. There are tote bags that were selling this season for $495 for $75. Also on offer are trendy, adorable straw picnic bags.
This was the first time Frances Valentine is having a sample sale. Pricing is on par to a boutique sale. The flyer claimed the sale would be up to 75% off. That mostly applied to the bags. Stock options are available in sizes 5-10. The shoes were around 50% off. Heels are $225. Slides are $149. Flats are $95 or $145. One style flat can pass as a Roger Vivier double, but for a fraction of the price! Sneakers and flat sandals are $95.
A sale associate informed me that they have lots of back stock of sneakers and flat sandals so those prices will probably be reduced on Thursday or Friday!
