This was my third time attending the Rent the Runway sample sale. The first time I attended their sample sale was back in October 2012. I went the second to last day and left empty handed. I was so bummed by the experience that I skipped the Rent the Runway sample sale until September 2014. I figured I probably would have better luck because I went the first day. Unfortunately, I left without purchasing anything. Two years have passed and I have decided to once again check out this sale on VIP night.
I was skeptical about the condition of items since the previous times, the majority of garments were ripped, stained, or damaged. Surprisingly merchandise is in better condition this time around. I spotted a variety of designers that will appeal to all tastes. Dresses for all events are available. A Marchessa Notte gown which retails for $1295 is $439. An Erin Featherston cocktail dress retails for $465 is $55.98. A Rachel Zoe floral romper is $46.97. Other apparel besides dresses are available. Rebecca Taylor blazers are $77.97, and a Tory Burch cardigan with embellished buttons is $42.97. A Rachel Roy leather jacket is $258.98 which retails for $1295.
Jewelry is laid out in glass jewelry drawers. Gorgeous statement necklaces, chunky bracelets, and gaudy earrings. Brands include; Oscar de la Renta, Kate Spade, Slate and Willow, Eddie Borgo, and Badgley Mischka.
Clutches and handbags are on tables and shelving. Intricate beaded Marchesa clutches are $499. Majority of handbags are Loeffler Randall, some Zac Posen, Kate Spade, and Rebecca Minkoff are mixed in. Handbags are extremely worn and some are missing parts. Small selections of sunglasses are available near the checkout area.
Check your items carefully. Many pieces have snags, tape, or missing embellishments. I saw a Suno dress that retails for $595 at this sale for $162.28, but the same exact dress in a larger size was $92.97. Markdowns will occur before the sale ends on Sunday, but the best merchandise is put out the first days.
