This past April, Maiyet opened its doors to their first public NYC sample sale. Maiyet partners with artisans from around the world who enrich the company's collections with handmade details. The discounts were very generous, but I did not attend the shopping event. Today I found out why. Pricing at this week's sample sale taking place in their studio is practically 90% or more off!
Racks of apparel line the floor. It's mostly sample pieces with some stock mixed in. Clothing is $100 and under. Coats and jackets are $100; dresses are $50; tops, skirts and pants are $30; and knits are $40.
There are lots of footwear options. Booties and boots are $50 and shoes are $30! All the shoes are samples. If you wear a size 37, 39,or 40 you're in luck. I spotted only one pair in 38.
Handbags were picked over when I went. Mostly damaged samples left. I asked if they would be bringing any more out and was told there is no restocking of the bags, and that it got sold out this morning. As I was about to check out I asked a different staff member if there were any more bags. She said it was all out but the other room has bags. I didn't know there was another room. The other room had non damaged bags, and more apparel.
All jewelry is $25 and is on trays on the checkout table. The cashier was giving out discounts by payment. I heard him charging a women the top price for a dress. He offered another women a discount on a jacket when she was deciding if she wanted to buy it. You get to take a free t-shirt once you complete your purchase.
