Sample Sale Skips
New York bargain hunters know that October is when luxury and high end labels host their sample sales. This year’s October calendar may be different as staple sales are skipping the NY scene. Hermes will be foregoing their sample sale at Soiffer Haskin and instead will be giving the Windy City a chance to shop Hermes at a discount. I was informed that merchandise will be pulled from stores across the states. Inventory will include “everything besides handbags and there will be lots of silk.”
The Gucci sample sale is usually private and if you’re lucky enough to know an employee you can get yourself on the list. Gucci is one of the hottest brands right now and revenue just keeps going up. The downside of this is, because the collection is so popular, it is sold out and there will be no sample sale this year.
I was looking forward to the Balenciaga sample sale this fall but that too is undecided and might take place in the spring. Hopefully miracles will happen.
So which high end designers can we expect this October? You can now add Alexander McQueen, Dolce and Gabbana, and J. Mendel to your shopping calendar.
